Salvation Army Serving in the Aftermath of Garissa Shooting

The Salvation Army Kenya East Territory is serving in the aftermath of a tragic shooting that took place at Garissa University College early Thursday after gunmen raided campus,  killing 148 individuals, injuring 79, and taking others hostage during morning prayers.

As part of the Government's Emergency Response team at Nairobi's Nyayo Stadium, The Salvation Army is providing refreshments, prayers, and emotional counseling to families of victims, emergency response officials, and survivors. Serving in the region since 1896, the Kenya Territory is the largest of the Salvation Army world and will continue to work alongside fellow relief organizations in serving the community in this capacity for as long as we are needed.

We pray God's grace and strength for the families and communities of victims, as well as those serving during this difficult time.
