Laurel, MS (12/19/2014) – Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Service teams continue to serve after deadly tornadoes struck Mississippi.

While much of The Salvation Army’s disaster operations following last week’s disaster have ceased, including feeding operations in the Columbia, MS area, other parts of the state are still working on assessments and clean-up.  Jones County, MS is one such area and they have requested meals for the workers within the county EMA office.  The Laurel MS Salvation Army EDS team answered the call and will be providing lunches to the EMA office through the end of the year.  Commanding officer at the Laurel Salvation Army, Lt. Patrick Connelly stated, “Long after the cameras and reporters leave a scene the devastation continues on.  Our team from Laurel has committed to help the helpers, and stand with the community as long as we can.”

After operations close on Wednesday, further Salvation Army feeding is not expected, but The Salvation Army locations affected will most assuredly be involved with other longer term projects following the latest series of tornadoes.
